20 May 2013 "World Metrology Day 2013 Conference: Measurements for Better Quality of Life"

NMC is organising a Conference on "Measurements for Better Quality of Life" on 20 May 2013 to commemorate World Metrology Day. Speakers at the Conference will be sharing on how measurement science can help improve the quality of life. Proposed topics include: Hearing Test and Hearing Aid towards Better Quality of Life; NMC's new initiative and programmes to improve quality and productivity; Making Chemical Measurement Better; Monitoring Air Pollution for a Better Quality of Life: Fires and Haze; Latest developments in instrumentation, calibration & measurement technologies. The seminar will be relevant to all industries which use accurate and precise measurements for product design, manufacturing and engineering services for the global markets, as well as research organisations which seek higher levels of measurement accuracy for R&D and international collaborations. 22 May 2013 "Seminar on Dimensional Measurement and its Assurance"

Measurement assurance is important to ensure high quality and productivity in product design and manufacturing.  The National Metrology Centre (NMC) will conduct a proficiency test (PT) using a profile projector from 27 May 2013 to 7 Jun 2013 to improve the measurement capability and confidence of accredited calibration laboratories, R&D laboratories, testing laboratories and factories’ in-house calibration laboratories. 12 - 13 June 2013 "Metrology Upgrading Programme - Fundamental Dimensional Measurements"

This course aims to provide participants with the fundamental technical knowledge and skills in dimensional measurements. Concepts to share will include maximising the accuracy of instrumentation and techniques, alternative approaches and familiarisation with information available in standard specification publication. A demonstration session on handling of basic instruments will be provided to allow the participants to see the concepts being put into practice.
