Our Role

Established in 1975, the National Metrology Centre (NMC) is Singapore's national measurement authority. It is responsible for establishing, maintaining and disseminating the national physical measurement standards to underpin the nation's infrastructure for traceability of measurement to the International System of Units (SI).


Our Mission

To enhance the competitiveness of Singapore's industry by providing a competent and internationally recognised national measurement system


Our Core Functions

 -  Establish and maintain measurement standards that are traceable to the International System of Units (SI)
 -  Provide calibration and metrology services to industry
 -  Provide training and consultancy for industry
 -  Undertake R&D to meet emerging needs of industry
 -  Participate in international negotiations and standards setting as it relates to metrology


Our Laboratories and Metrology Work


Located in Science Park I, our metrology laboratories occupy some 2,000 m² of environmentally controlled space. Our multi-disciplinary team of experienced scientists and engineers perform a wide range of calibration and measurement activities in various metrological fields:
